William Bacon Oliver Lake Description

Oliver Lake was formed by the construction of the William Bacon Oliver Lock and Dam. The Lake is nine miles long with approximately 1,000 surface acres. Corps of Engineers managed recreation facilities on Oliver Lake are limited to a boat launching ramp on the north side of the lake in Northport, AL, and a fishing pier on the south side in Tuscaloosa, AL. Both of these facilities are located immediately below Oliver Lock & Dam. All other recreation development is located within the Tuscaloosa city limits and managed by the Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority. These areas include two day use parks, a fishing pier and a boat launching ramp.Recreation opportunities on Oliver Lake include boating, fishing,and picnicking.
